Self-developers in growth mindset organisations

CREATING AN ENVIRONMENT FOR CHANGE

Organisations grow when people grow. But real cultural change does not begin on paper, but in the behaviour of each individual. In this presentation, Andrew Bannon shows how the Self-Developer mindset effectively complements the principles of the Growth Mindset (Carol Dweck) and Psychological Safety (Amy Edmondson) – creating an environment in which learning, feedback and the courage to change become natural.

CONTENT

Static ways of thinking block you: If you constantly have to prove how good you are, you close yourself off to growth. A growth mindset, on the other hand, means recognising that skills can be developed – through effort, openness and perseverance. But beware: the “inner voice” of the static mindset constantly evaluates and thus holds back development. Andrew Bannon combines these insights with the philosophy of the self-developer and shows how teams learn to accept constructive feedback, utilise setbacks productively and share success with one another. Neuroscientific findings on the plasticity of the brain make it clear that learning and change are possible at any age. This creates a culture in which individual development and corporate goals go hand in hand.

Key messages

Awareness of your own thinking habits is the basis for personal growth and real change.

Obstacles and defeats are not stop signs, but milestones on the way to the goal – fuelled by self-confidence.

Growth mindset can be learnt: with neuroplasticity, old thought patterns can be overcome and new skills developed at any age.

Customer testimonials

“Andrew gave a great virtual keynote at Siemens Smart Infrastructure Growth Week on “Growth Mindset”. With many vivid examples he demystified the topic, well understandable, tailored to our needs and highly entertaining. Our employees were enthusiastic. And it was fun to work with him.”

Petra Wander Senior Manager Employee Engagement at Siemens AG

“I received only positive feedback on Mr Bannon’s lecture. I think Mr Bannon’s humorous, but also down-to-earth and honest manner was the key factor here that ensured openness and enthusiasm. I wouldn’t know what to criticise at this point. The presentation was entertaining and exciting, and fitted perfectly into the overall context of the day and underlined our message for change.

“The way you presented was really entertaining and showed a fine sense of (seemingly British) humour. The fact that the talk was discussed in all the following breaks proves that you raised and discussed important points for the self-development of all participants. Even the next day, some presentations already referred to quotes from your speech. In summary, your talk was an exciting highlight.”
